Special Delivery Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L II
May 5, 2010 | Category: Personal | 2 CommentsGetting a package in the mail is like a kid getting presents on Christmas. For me its probably one of the most exciting things. To add to that excitement, this time it’s a Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L II. I have been wanting this lens for a long time now and I finally decided to give it a go. It is scheduled for delivery sometime today so you should be seeing some wide angled shots from this thing pretty soon. That is if I can catch up on all my older photography posts. Just thought I would share with you a little bit of my enjoyment in my camera gear. If your wanting more info about this lens or others check out Ken Rockwell’s informative site.

Kevin & Jennifer’s Family Photo Shoot
May 5, 2010 | Category: Families | 2 CommentsCaptured some great holiday shots of Kevin and Jennifer’s family. We did this shoot right by my house in Davie, FL. Actually it was in the same location where I did Michele & Michael’s photo shoot, only difference the winter season. The weather was a lot cooler this time and we did get to see some tiny flower buds come up in the grass but that’s about it. BTW their boy Caleb was so awesome! Thanks guys for the opportunity.

Scootering Through Sugar Kane Fields
May 4, 2010 | Category: Travel | No CommentsI hit it off pretty well with this guy at the Batey. I think he was fascinated with my fancy camera just as much as I was into his scooter. He requested that I take several pictures of him and in return he let me ride this snazy scooter. It took me a couple tries to get it going but before I knew it, I was flying through the sugar kane fields. I must say… I almost died a few times but it was really fun. Little did my friend know he would become famous from the 3 people that read my blog. Hope you enjoy the photo and if you look closely that same donkey is in the background.

Emotional Tilt-Shift Photograph
April 28, 2010 | Category: Personal, Travel | 3 CommentsAlright so I don’t have a tilt-shift lens but I am thinking of getting one soon. Right now I am looking at the TS 45mm 2.8 for Canon as an option. I feel like its just a fad that will be in for a bit then out the next day. But I have seen some really cool stuff done with it so it might be worth the investment. This photograph was taken on the same trip in the Dominican Republic. I just decided to put a little more of an artistic touch to it tonight and thought I would share.
I ended up showing both versions, with and without the lens blur.
Oh and if your wondering how to create this effect yourself in Photoshop check out the Tilt-Shift Photography Tutorial.

Dominican Republic Vintage Retro Photo
April 28, 2010 | Category: Personal, Travel | No CommentsLast summer I had an opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic with my church. I have always had this fascination with taking pictures of rail road tracks and when the donkey showed up it just made it that much better. I might have went a little overboard with the distress vintage look but it was fun experimenting at the time. To get this effect I pretty much just warmed the image up in the RAW format. Then overlayed this grunge parchment looking paper on top a few times. I think there might have been some multiply styles as well. To be honest with you after the disease I contracted from this country, its all been kind of a blur.
